I'm guessing you either found out or gave up by now, but I'll leave this comment here in case a fellow Linux user with the same question comes here : Just download the linux version, extract the archive in any directory, make the file helltaker_lnx.x86_64 executable (on the GUI file manager, just right click the file, select "properties", then go to the "permission" tab and tick the "allow file to be executed" box. ), then execute it by double-clicking it.
It’s not a *super *explicit game, but it’s also not the most kid-friendly? I feel like it’s suitable for ages 12+. So, relatively child-friendly in my opinion. Just don’t search for it on rule 34.
Choose your operating system, click download, open it on your file manager then click unzip, then try find a compiled file and double click it, try find an executable if you use Windows, idk about mac I don't use Mac, but if you really use Linux you can just type "gzip -d /path" and when you finish type ./file_name

I don't see anyone begging here. All I see is someone wondering if a game they want to try is going to port to the main platform they use. If the answer is yes then they'd obviously want to know when. If the answer is no then they should obviously stop asking.
